Landing of the PEACE submarine cable

Even before the sun rose on Prado beach, the Telsam team was already on site to witness a key moment: the landing of the PEACE submarine cable.

A 15,000 km cable, with a record capacity of 16 Terabits per second per pair of fibers, for a total of 320 Tbits/s, which, at the time of its landing, surpassed the cumulative capacity of all the cables then in service in Marseille!

Alongside PCCW, Cyta, and HMN, our teams were able to observe the operations carried out with exemplary precision by the Orange Marine teams. From the first light of day, a meticulous process began: an initial landing to pull a rope, allowing the underwater cable to be towed with calculated slowness, without excessive tension.

This day marked the culmination of months of hard work for the Telsam technical teams.

An international project: the PEACE cable initially connects Marseille to Cyprus, Egypt and Pakistan, before extending to Djibouti and Kenya.

Our teams played a central role in the deployment of the terrestrial network, installing and commissioning it within Orange's Cable Landing Station (CLS ):

  • PFE (Power Feeding Equipment)

  • SLTE (Submarine Line Terminal Equipment)

But our mission doesn't end there and will continue with system maintenance in collaboration with the PCCW Global and HMN teams. This maintenance will be provided 24/7, 365 days a year, ensuring maximum system availability for our end users.
